CNN & AHJ Partner to Launch All-Star Tribute Awards

CNN, celebrating its 30th anniversary as a 24-hour news organization, has named ten individuals – nine men and one woman – as “The CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” Awards winners and recipients of an All-Star Tribute Award.

The ten “CNN Heroes” will join over 100 others on Saturday, April 7 on CNN from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles as part of a two-hour “CNN Heroes All-Star Tribute.” Hosted by CNN’s Poppy Harlow, the broadcast airs at 8pm ET. The network will also re-air the program at 10:30pm ET and 11:30pm ET.

CNN Heroes All-Star Tribute recipients are students and teachers who have excelled in one of ten categories including: Individual Contributor – Wolf Blitzer; Corporate Contribution – Galo Cortes, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Community Leadership – Linda Jackson, Volunteer Opportunities Unlimited; International Achievement – Davina Wood, Barbadian Dancers in Film; Nonprofit Organization – Charlie Corbett, Partner in Unlocking The Dream; Science and Technology – Isaac Semeria, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Sports Team – Las Vegas Golden Knights; Volunteer Group – Counseling for Love and Mercy; The Young Heroes – Sadao Kanai, Hurricane Rita Refugee; I Give It Up Campaign – Hoyle Wimbish, Tiger Airways Pilots Association; Volunteer – Dallas Kirschenbaum, Girl Scouts of America.

The All-Star Tribute Award recipients are: John Bourquin, Stefano Catena, Carla De Jesus, Holly Hirawa, Don Kilmer, Hoyle Wimbish, Ford Patterson, and John Wright.

For the second consecutive year, CNN will join forces with the Association of Hispanic Journalists for a forum held during the All-Star Tribute at the CNN Center in New York City. This year, CNN.com will be the #1 source to learn more about the CNN Heroes and watch videos of their inspirational stories. The announcement of the 10 individuals will be shared by CNN’s Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour during the CNN All-Star Tribute pre-show April 7 at 8pm ET.
